Founded in 2021, The Halisi Hands Association is a non-profit anti-counterfeit association that brings together consumer associations manufacturers, organizations and individuals who seek to protect consumers from counterfeit products.
The organization holds an annual meeting in a different city every year, at which manufacturers and consumer representatives present new ideas and discoveries, debate them and their would be impact on fighting counterfeits.
The global counterfeit market is estimated to be worth $ 23 billion in 2020 according to the USA chamber of commerce. this is expected to hit $40 billion in 2025. This is money lost by manufacturers and revenue lost by governments. Sadly, the trend is only getting worse and counterfeiters are only getting smarter.
Counterfeit products lead to loss of lives at a rarely perceived scale, these range from fake pharmaceutical product to counterfeit electronics. Counterfeiting as seen above is not a victimless crime. It distorts lives, kills businesses, leads to loss of jobs and sadly the los of lives.
The number of people that complain on a daily basis on concerns after purchasing counterfeit commodities range from 911 calls to returned goods over the counter. unfortunately , these acts lead to a dent in the reputation of the manufacturer who is not even aware of the goods existence..
The existing legal framework combined with enforcement alone is not a solution to cub counterfeits as the low number of prosecution clearly indicates. Enforcement must be coupled with consumer awareness that's facilitated by technology and social responsibility
